Glider tests

Flight Time: 2.6 hours ... Total Engine Time: 71.3 hours

Build Time: 0.0 hours ... Analysis Time: 0.0 hours

It was a nice day and the plane was insured so I climbed to 5500' above the airport and shut off the engine. Lots of wind noise over the canopy with no engine. Found best glide slope to be at 45 KIAS, which gave a 500fpm descent rate and a glide slope of about 6:1 according to the GPS. Propeller of course was stopped. Diving at Vne I could get the prop to rotate once and pause, rotate once and pause, but never enough to start it.

I also found that the stall speed had increased to 35-36KIAS without the prop turning, a good thing to know in case of an engine failure.

Restarted engine and flew to Aurora State, then Lenhardt airpark, then home. Watched somebody perform their first solo at HIO from 4000 ft as I passed overhead.
