Mounted a plate of 0.060" aluminum blocking the right side of the engine cowling inlet. Attached the CAT hose to a hole in this plate back to the inlet of the heater box.
I would estimate total build time for cabin heat retrofit was around 10 hours. Cost was about $200.
Went for a test flight. First flight in serious rain. Plane handled fine, but I did have to add a little more weather stripping on the back left side of the canopy. The cabin heat provides a very high volume of hot air out of the cockpit inlet when it is selected on. Still need to add some sort of diffuser on the inlet.
Wiped off the now mushy bugs on leading edges of the wings and stabs.
