Just flew around for a while. There was a very thin but solid cloud layer from 6000-7000ft over most of the area. Flew about it for a while at 8500ft, then dove through a hole towards Scappoose. With the reduction the prop makes a pretty good airbrake with the throttle pulled all the way back - I was able to maintain 125 kts in a pretty steep dive. VSI was pegged at -3000fpm.
